This could be someone with at least 5% of the company\u2019s securities or someone who has significant influence over decision-making processes, such as through voting rights or board appointments. Unlike shareholders who may be corporate entities or trusts, beneficial owners must always be individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why the Change?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2023, South Africa was placed on the <strong>Financial Action Task Force\u2019s (FATF)<\/strong> grey list, highlighting areas needing improvement in combating <strong>money laundering<\/strong> and <strong>terrorism financing<\/strong>.
